Hi,

Well I am now rapidily coming up to have to replace my driver side (for you in US passenger side, KJ is RHD) front bearing again. Up to now I have swapped them out about 20K mls back with orignal Mopar ones. I am now looking for something that will last a bit longer, any recomendation? Timken (?!) any good?

Fil.

I have the Timken unit bearings on both side. Replaced the originals in 2010. I think I have about 40k miles on them So far so good.

www.rockauto.com

They ship worldwide. That's where I got mine, though I don't have ABS.

I tried to have a look and can't work out the correct part. I am sure they must have them with the ABS sensors inside. I thought all KJ even in the US would come with ABS as standard as a minimum.

Didn't see them on rockauto either. a quick search found them at http://www.1aauto.com/jeep-liberty-wheel-bearing-and-hub-assembly-front-timken-ha599455l/i/tkshf00151?f=557082&y=2003&utm_campaign=gb_csv_br&utm_content=SHF&gclid=CjgKEAjwn-WcBRD61NHM-uqDrm4SJADrP4tP9HAxjElMPaTmRCS8g-M3jd6zcIGYze0r3l94B5VQrvD_BwE

Probably cheaper places, but this should get you a part number to search on.

All KJ's from '02-'07 use the same front unit bearings,2wd or 4wd.The only difference is ABS or not and ABS did not become standard till '06 when ESP became standard.

You can use ABS unit bearings if need be,just cut the wires off the sensor but leave the sensor bolted in place to keep junk out of the bearing.

Besides OEM I'd trust SKF or Timkin bearings before any other brand but Timkin is going down hill since they started using china made stuff in some of the bearings. Most SKF stuff uses German or Japan made bearings which are high quality.

In the North America, 05 CRD's have front ABS without TCS

'02 through '05's either have 3 channel ABS or no ABS.There is no "front wheel ABS" ,also known as 2 channel ABS,in any KJ.Your right no '02-'05 KJ has traction control, that did not appear till '06+ when they went to a 4 channel ABS system for ESP.

ABS was a option till '06 but CRD's(North American) may have had it by default due to the engine option selected.

Hi
Thank you for your help.
One last question, I have been told that Crown front bearing are also very good and that have the same components as Timken ones, is that true? I can get them over here more easily but they are pricy.
