Any way to fix this cheaply / easily? All 4 are looking like the finish is starting to come off around the edges, like so:

They are essentially brushed aluminum with a clearcoat (paint) over top, so whatever you do, use products that are safe for painted surfaces. I've used a (outdoor) tub with warm water and soap before to loosen up nasty stuff. Soft bristle brushes and patience are good too. Once you get most of the goo off and have just some specs and spots, try a claybar. They lift debris off wheels the same way they do off painted surfaces and glass.

To me that looks like the clear coat failed and the now bare aluminum surface is corroding. Mine have a similar thing going on, starting from the center caps though.

Two options polish, clean & clear coat or sand, paint & clear coat.

This. Plastidip hides a lot. 2 of my rims are below my standards and they look perfect thanks to plastidip.
