Hello, the radiator of my KJ is leaking badly from the left side (plastic) and ordered an original replacement.

So I went to a mopar store and ordered radiator with part number 05183562AB and the salesman told me that there is a replacement code for that part: 68020278AA. He confirmed me twice that's the correct part number for my jeep. He also checked with the VIN and get the same result.

When the radiator arrived, what a big surprise, this model has a space for a radiator cap at the top left!!!

So I checked the internet and that's correct, 68020278AA replaces 05183562AB.

Well, now i need your valuable help.

First, what type of cap should i use, the same type of the coolant reservoir tank?

Second, the new type of radiator does not have the outlet to connect the hose in the top right corner that leads to the reservoir tank, but it has an outlet just below the space for the cap. Should i connect that hose to this outlet?

Anyone who has replaced the radiator with a similar experience?

Will the system work with two radiator caps?

I'm really puzzled with this.

Thanks in advance

The liberty I'm talking about is a 2006 4x4 Limited.

You have the wrong radiator, you have one for a '07 KJ.You need the older style radiator without a cap.

Thanks a lot. I went back to the mopar dealer to expose the situation and didn't have any problem to get the correct radiator that will be installed today.

Just another question. I will replace upper and lower radiator hoses, thermostat and the radiator cap; but this last item, though it is the correct part number (04596198), the new one is rated at 17 lbs instead of 16 lbs of the old one. How does that affect the system?

I've read that it will increase the boiling point of the coolant, so the specific question is how it will affect the cooling system of the KJ? will it be more stressed? or the opposite?

Thanks in advance.
