The Lib just started rattling in 4X4, and it is definitely coming from the front driveshaft. It's not coming from the end that goes into the front diff (boot is fine too), but the transfer case end. I ordered the rebuild kit for both ends, and it seems there are lots of videos and instructions on how to do the diff end, but not the transfer case end. Anyone have any pointers on instructions on how to do the t-case end of the shaft?

Thanks

Transfer case end is the one that goes bad 95% of the time. But easy to do, pry off cap, remove snap ring, slide off the old, on with the new along with repacking the grease etc .
I've never replaced one on the diff side in all I've done

Don't feel bad about mangling that stupid cap up to get it off too. I had to work mine over pretty good to pry the thing off.

Also, if you don't have any already, get a decent set of snap ring pliers too. Will make it easier. Don't go with one of those cheap sets that come with different attachable tips.. Those suck. I got a set of those at sears for like $10 and they didn't work at all. Returned them for the standard set that was like a dollar more and worked perfectly.
