Successfully just re-dipped my wheels, rotated my tires, replaced a faulty gas cap and did a little bumper/inner fender trimming before Winter comes! Somedays I wish I had a garage so weather didn't affect when I could work on my KK

A garage is nice just to have a level surface to work on. My driveway is on an incline so any work has to be done inside the garage. In the summer it sucks cause it's hot!

I'd pass on the sliders. If I remember they used to go for $350 or $375. The super sliders atleast. I'd pass and message ATH and see if he has any plans on sliders or just settle for JCR.

I talk to ATH regularly and as far as I know he has no immediate plans to start rock rail development, due to the fact that there is already a company producing them, plus he stays pretty busy with his current product lines. I can tell you that you will definetly not be "settling" for the JCRs. I have used mine many times out in the rocks and have come away with mere surface scratches. 100% worth the money, IMO

Ok great thank you for that. I've seen some of your pictures on Instagram along with JeepnCrowd and i don't go rock crawling like you guys. Mostly soft stuff for me... I just hear JCR's are a pain to install

I think pain is a relative term.. Myself and JeepnCrowd actually used his motorcycle jack to hold the sliders steady as we measured for the holes. Made life much easier.

It's swapping out the plastic anchors in the trunk with anchors that will allow the use of ratchet straps and be stronger.

Here's a quick How-To I wrote up for it:

Yes, I bought these on a whim at Tractor Supply and the fit PERFECTLY into the holes left after drilling out the rivets set in place for the stock anchors. I used a 1/4" drill bit to get rid of the locking center and channel lock plier to remove the rest of the excess. Then using a 1/2" drill bit, drilled out the holes so a 1/8" toggle bolt will fit. Very proud of this lil mod haha.

Nice work. I may need to make this upgrade myself.

I refinished and repainted my rims this weekend. They were badly oxidized around the edges from our harsh New England winters. Decided to paint them all graphite instead of the two tone graphite and bright scheme. I think it looks more up to date and aggressive. Today, I put on new tires. Went up a few sizes from Cooper Discoverer ATR's in 225/75R16' that were on it when I bought it to the new Cooper Discoverer A/T3's in 245/75R16.

Here's a before and after picture that shows the differences. Let me know what you think. Image

Showed up my girlfriend's father in towing haha...him and his 2010 Toyota 4Runner just couldn't tow her uncle's 2000lb 5×8 enclosed single axle trailer haha. My 2010 Jeep KK on the other hand barely noticed it was there haha. Only on huge bumps (bridge bumps on highways) and the initial braking push from the momentum did I actually feel that trailer and my gf's 500-1000lbs of stuff haha. Got 241mi out of that tank and 106mi of it was hauling the trailer, and somehow still got 13.87mpg haha. The tongue weight only dropped the rear about 1"-1.25" (with a 4" drop ball hitch.) Overall, the KK is the best thing I've ever purchased STILL haha.

That paint job looks awesome, and the 245/75/16's are definitely beefier. You may have some rub while turning or articulating the suspension with that tire size if you are unlifted. If that happens, consider OME or Ironman lifts from Jeepin By Al. You can get 2.5 inches of lift and a much improved ride for about $800 if I remember correctly. New springs are like night and day compared to the stock ones.

Thanks Atthehelm. I used Dupli-Color GRAPHITE Wheel Coating Acrylic Enamel HWP102 and CLEAR COAT HWP103. The project took me about 5 hours with a friend. We worked on two wheels at a time, off the Jeep. We cleaned the oxidation with a wire brush on an air tool, wet sanded and then scuffed the rims with a Scotch-Brite pad. Afetr that we washed them with a degreaser, then soap and water, and finally blow dried them with compressed air. Masked the tires with 3M Blue Painter's Tape.

Paint went on easily with excellent results. Only used one can of the Graphite and one can of the clear coat.

All in all, the project cost me about $25.00 in materials and a 12 pack of beer.

Thanks lfhoward. The tires do a nice job of filling the wheel wells. So far no rubbing lock to lock. I haven't tried it articulated. I don't do much off-roading, as this is my work truck. Just some un-maintained (Class VI) roads. The OME and Ironman Lifts seem kind of pricey. I was considering a hockey puck lift by Daystar.

Took my KK into the dealer in Saturday....

No worries, I still have it :jester: The front crank seal was leaking oil and I'm still under warranty(extended atleast lol). Figured why bother doing it myself when the dealer can do it for free.

Up next is going to my buddy's shop in the next few weeks to take care if the rear axle that's leaking.

While you're there just for fun test drive a 15 JK. I'll admit the 3.6L is a lot better than the 3.8L but I still wouldn't trade mine.
