Hey everyone,

I have two problems right now. First, my headlights keep dimming slightly while driving then going back to normal. It seems to happen most often when at a low speed cruise or when cresting hills, etc. I can notice a very slight inconsistency in the brightness if I put the vehicle in drive and shine the lights on the back wall of my garage. It isn't really noticeable in park. I took it to the FLAPS and had them test the battery and alternator. The alternator checked out ok, but the battery tested bad. So, I had them replace the battery using their fancy OBDII memory keeper but they somehow screwed it up. I lost all of my vehicle settings. To conclude problem #1, I still have the headlight problems I was having before. Should I test the alternator again (myself, maybe) or is there another likely culprit in this situation?

Problem #2
When they reset my vehicle settings, I lost the ability to use either of my key fobs. They both worked fine before replacing the battery. Since the keys are technically still programmed, is it possible to get the jeep to recognize them again without going to the dealer? I don't want to keep throwing money at this problem until I'm sure that the larger problem is solved, so that my battery doesn't need to be pulled again needlessly. Any ideas?

Thanks!

A bigger battery(more CCA's) is needed and check your grounds and make sure the battery terminals are super clean and tight. If you lost all memory with a OBDII port battery saver that means the fuse for the DLC is most likely blown or they didn't fully insert the connector or did not turn on the memory saver(they all have a off/on switch for the DLC style).

I'll look into that. Any idea about the key issues? Is this a dealer only problem?

Hi.
I apparently do not loose any settings when I disconnect my battery. Remains disconnected for months and everything still functions when I reconnect.
