Hey folks, I'm heading out soon to get "winter" tires mounted for my KK, and wanted to get some opinions before I make the final plunge.

I have a set of 225/75R16 Duratracs ready to be mounted on 2004 Renegade rims. Thought was to go with "minus-sizing" for winter, and I know I like the Duratracs. Just having last minute doubts about going with a narrower tire... I know all the experts say it's good for winter, but is a smaller contact patch really better? Talking Southern Ontario weather here.

Problem is I hear the next size up in Duratrac's won't fit a non-lifted KK. I could donate the Duratrac's to my Patriot instead, but not sure what I would go with instead... the Cooper Discoverer AT/W in a 245/70R16 maybe.

I'm probably just overthinking this, and should stick with the 225 Duratrac's, but any input would be appreciated!

Duratracs are monsters in the snow, and you could always put studs in them if you ever needed. With that said, don't they make a 245/70-16 Duratrac? If not, I'd just stick to the stock size. Why fix what's not broken?

Are you saying the DuraTracs will be a narrower tire than what you're running now? Or are you think you should go narrower?

I run that size DuraTracs on my KK in the winter and have had no issues. This winter is my second winter with them.

The Duratrac's would be narrower than what I have on now (235/65R17), but you guys are right; the 225/75 still a stock size and the Duratrac's are great in the snow. Off to get them mounted!

You'll love the Duratracs off-road, on-road, and in snow. I am running them year round.

Duratracs are great all around and in the snow. I hardly ever lock it in with snow on the ground, they just walk on through it all
