I did the ORM and saw my average jump from 18mpg to 22mpg with a about a 50/50 split city and freeway.
I did the ORM on and off for almost 6 years and saw nothing, no MPG gain, no reduced soot in oil and no change in responsiveness. In the absence of any hard evidence I was always very skeptical of whether it actually did anything other than raise a fault condition.
Looking at your numbers and 50/50 driving pattern I'd suggest that you may have gone from an abnormally low mpg to something more typical. I'd hazard a guess that disconnecting the MAF has affected it in some other way to get back that lost mpg rather than it giving you extra as a side effect of "disabling" the EGR.
May be also several other factors such as fuel quality, parts replaced (especially dragging calipers), etc, I drove with maf unplugged for months and I couldn't rule any gain. The only improvement I saw in mileage was after gde tune, inflating tires to 40-45psi and installing the efan. Gde tune got me 2+mpg, tires another 1-2 mpg and efan 1 mpg city and 2.5-3 mpg highway at 70-ish, more than that will drop severely due to "jeep aerodynamics", regardless of efan or viscous.
