ok now that the skid is being built i am going to start work on rock rails
and because i have never seen any on a kj i have many ???
so if you have some what would you change??
i would think that if i build some like the ones at all j's but use some heavy wall tubing that would follow up and along the bottom of the door insted of just a square tube at the bottom also i would think that if ti hung out about as far as the fender flairs + a little extra maby 1/2 inch that would help protect the doors
from rubbing trees and such??

any input from you guys would be great
it could be a few weeks befor i start unless nolakj wants to jump up and pay for his first then it could be sooner??

I have a little expendable cash right now and some sliders are definately on the wish list. Tell your guy to get started. i will be the guinea pig for the sliderz. Sounds like just what i have been looking for with the outward and slightly upward rocker protection.

I have rails already, but I think you're definitely headed in the right direction

Rails / Steps in one is basically what you are creating by having a tube that goes further out.

I'd also like to see sliders that are really meant to be slid on. I see a lot of sliders that have the supporting beams even-with or below the actual sliding bar. I'm picturing the edge of a rock getting in between the rail and the support and sheering it right off. (I personally got a stump stuck in that pocket). I'd like to see the sliding surface be below the support beam, and possibly extra support underneath so that it acts more like a skid even.

if i am thinking about the same thing as you then it would be to cover the area between the lower part under the door and the part that connects to the unibody so you dont just have 3 or 4 pcs. of box tube but rather a "skid" so i would just cover that area with like 1/8" plate?
something like that??

i think that rock rails are one of the best and should be first things to get if you wheel. Before a locker and even a lift.

I PMd RL about a design of this type and he told me that he really didn't have anything that covered the area right below the door. His stuff looks great. Just didn't have the coverage that these sliders will have for the rocker area.
