This is my new Jeep. I myself used to be a ford guy. Dont laugh. I have a 97 mustang cobra and an 01 f150. Due to a baby on the way we decided we needed a 4 door vehicle. Time to sell the Cobra was my first thought. I started looking at the explorers right away. I wanted a 4x4 and was looking at them. First thing I did was went to the forums to see what other people thought of them. Every forum I read people were complaining about the explorer and how it couldn't be lifted because the half shafts actually go through the frame (crappy isn't it) So that Idea went out the window. I'm not doing any heavey 4 wheelin mostly baby hauling and a little off road here and there. Next I find a great deal on my 02 liberty limited (independent edition?). First thing I do before I buy is check the forums. I found the LOST Crew here. Nothing but priases for the liberty. I fell in love with all of the options you guys are doing. Now I'm the proud owner of a new to me LIBERTY. Thanks Guys!
Now the Color is either love it or hate it. It's different and I love it. Anyone else have this burnt orange color? What is the color actually called? And I haven't seen another "INDEPENDENT EDITION" I guess a Texas thing? And for this Ugly Bar In the Front It had to GO.

Well let me be the first to welcome you to the club!
I am a recent member myself... Havent had my KJ for 3 weeks yet... :)

Nice looking rig... I like the bull bar on the front...

Its funny because my wife and I were looking at four door sedans... Mazda6, Camry, Altima, etc... and as soon as we decided to go for an SUV instead it was Liberty all the way! It is perfect... It can fill the grocery getter ( ) & daily driver role but has so many options for offroading!

Nice color too... although I absolutely LOVE the Dark Khaki... :)

On the 2006 it's called Blaze Red. Yours looks very close, if not the the same to that.

Actually, I believe that is the rare Salsa Red. It was only available for a very limited time.

You can go to Jeep.com and go to their contact section and customer service and type in your VIN# and they can give you all the info you could ever want about your KJ.....

IIRC you only need the last 8 digits.

Si, it is a fine example of a 'Salsa Red' KJ. I have one of the 'Blaze Red' KJs - color is exactly the same as the '98 Dakota I traded for it :P

As for the 'Independence' edition, I think it might be a local take-off of the 'Freedom' edition Liberties.

I actually found it at an audi dealer. It has all the records of oil changes and everything! They said they owe me a wash and detail. Time to get it all muddy and take it to them.

Oooohhh Salsa red! (where's the drooling emoticon?) Great color, great little Jeep, Texas/or whoever oringinally bought it thing, and welcome. I think that covers all of it. Oh yeah, since you got such an awesome price on it, use some of that "extra" money and get going on the mods!

(mmmmm, good food in Austin)
