I'm a hobby programmer and have written a windows program for the Jeep KJ 3.7 in the last 12 months.
This program shows the status of a 42RLE transmission. After a few test drives it seems to work well.
I have uploaded a video to YouTube which is showing such a test drive.
The program runs on a laptop with bluetooth and is using an ELM327 bluetooth adapter.

If you have an ELM327 bluetooth adapter you can also download a test version of my program from here.

Wow this is sick, people have been trying to figure out how to get transmission temp out of the elm dongles for torque as well, havent seen anything yet.

Ps.. if you have the hex info and offset for the trans temp plz post, id love to get it working in torque.

This OBD program is working with OBD PID's via the diagnostic request.
OBD-II PIDs - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The OBD PID's for the transmission temperature, etc. do not belong to these standard PID's and they are very hard to find. Therefore my program reads the PCI bus messages directly.

Very impressive, Jeep Explorer. Job well done.
