I installed a 3 yr warranty Moog on the psgr side which was not cheap and I paid the extra for the longer (perceived) service life. It has a 3 yr warranty which I will try to invoke...

The one on the passenger side failed this week within 5k kms of installation. All bolts were torqued to spec.

[Edit #1 because I didn't have time to work on it, the mechanic said:] The bearing is almost completely separated...it has 2" of movement!!!! It made no unusual noise, it just started to look like it had too much negative camber and wandered on the highway a bit. Started to get unpredictable/dangerous today.

Was this my error, or is quality going downhill?

Edit #2: It was my error. I put anti-seize on the star bolts. DON'T DO THIS. They backed out and were barely held in by a couple turns. Quick fix, but it is embarrassing to get a talking to from an actual trained mechanic when you thought you knew what you were doing... You win some, you lose some. At least I didn't die.

Good old anti-seize. I've got carried away with that crap before. I just leave it in the tool shed now.

I think I'll do the same.

Adding some muscle to a breaker bar with a pipe on the end is better than the alternative in this situation.

Just saw this and was wondering if you figured it out
So loose mounting bolts which in turn ruined the bearing
Anti-seize is like Loctite , good when used right, bad when you don't
Glad to hear you figured it out

Sage words.

Luckily for me, the star bolts were re-tightened before detectable damage could be done. We will see how long it lasts.
