I did a lot of research on doing that. It's not worth it if you wanted it to remain street legal. The computer and the legalities are too much. Physically, it'd work. Plus you'd have to regear to lower ratios because the manuals have higher gears. One day, when she becomes a dedicated trail rig haha.

What kind of legal issues would it cause? I mean I know you'd have to change out the computer and lots of other things but idk how it would cause legal issues

I don't believe most insurance agencies would sign off on it. I called mine up to see if they'd still insure me if I did the swap and they said they wouldn't due to it not being an option for my year/model. With the 2008's having had a manual option all I'd have to do was swap the interior plastics and probably cut some holes for the linkage. My insurance wouldn't but maybe yours will. If so I might pull this plot back out of the grave haha.

He'd be fine since he has 32s. Technically anyone with 31s should be fine.

Your insurance carrier has your VIN, so when they see that it's a manual versus the automatic that the VIN says it is, you're going to raise some red flags and introduce an investigation onto yourself.

It's the right transmission by model yes. I do not know if there is any differences from the KJ years to the KK rears though. To my knowledge there is not. Tom or TJKJ or 4x4kayak would probably know more.

If your state follows CA emissions standards, it might be illegal if you want to drive it on-road. Check your emissions label right above the brake booster, as long as it doesn't mention transmission type, then you're good there. You'd also need to reprogram the ABS, DTCM, and TIPM, change out the wiring harness, as well as swap out the T-case if you have full time 4wd.

The good news is the floor pans are the same, so you won't have to cut anything.

I'm not sure as far as legalities, but you're gonna need to change a few things. Basically you're looking at a new peda box(smaller brake pedal and clutch pedal), the whole clutch system, transmission(obviously), possibly new driveshafts(I'm not sure of the size differences between the 2) and a ton of reprogramming and wiring harnesses. Probably more there too. I haven't looked around to see if the auto's floor pan is cut. But you'll have to have it open for the shifter. If it is closed it'll probably have the piece marked that you'd have to cut. There's most likely more as well.

I gave her and oil/oil filter change. Tried re-installing the filter drip tray (forgot to reinstall it when I took it out during my rack and pinion install), didn't quite work out. I couldn't figure out how the stupid thing used to bolt up haha. I also flipped my Bilstein rear shocks so the rod was down (cut the boot off after tjkj mentioned they were bad...yes they are, there was ALOT of water trapped in there.

Also did my first ever 5 tire rotation haha. 2500mi on the new tires so far and still loving them! Update on them too: tire mounted on my rim with 6oz of Dyna Beads weighs JUST a hair under 79lbs.

I added some alley lights up top on my roof rails. Now I can see to my sides while deer hunting.

Those look good! I plan on doing the same eventually. As well as a smaller light bar for the rear!
