VIN location on engine block?

Howdy Everyone...long time no post.

I just bought a used KJ motor and I'm trying to locate the VIN to make sure I order the right parts. The Chilton manual says on the front right engine block. I can't seem to find it!!! :banghead:

Is it in different locations for different years?

Is it stamped in the block or cast in the block?

Hope i can find an answer...pics appreciated.

No VIN on engines,they do however have part #'s which is stamped right on the block.

on the cylinder head i found what looks like a date 11/12/04 (stamped in). so I'm assuming its an 04 engine? its the best i have to go on.
