So I'm getting new headlights but I'm debating on HID's or CREE LED's both kits come with everything needed

6000k HID's = $30 (just low beam)
= $50 (Hi/Low beam)
35w = 3200-3400 Lumens
50w = 5000 Lumens (+$10)

25w CREE LED's = $150
3200 -3400 Lumens

What do you guys think?

We use the H13 bulbs

HID's

LED's

Well- since you asked - the right answer is none of the above.

The headlight reflectors are designed for Halogen bulbs - something like a SilverStar

if you try to put in HID or LED's - the light pattern will be off

you'll probably have enough light for you to see more - but you'll be blinding the other drivers on the road.

and odds are in California - it's illegal

(course I think everything is)

now adding those as extra off-road style lights would be great - just not as primary driving lights.

I wouldn't use either of them to be honest.
The HIDs should only be used with a projector housing.
Not sure what the draw is on those led's, but I'll bet they're a lot less than halogens.
If the tipm senses an under draw in current it shuts down power to the lamps.

I'm running PIAA nite-techs, and they are waaaaaaaaaaay better than the stock bulbs :)

Both are legal in cali but I can't get regular bulbs because for some reason the bulbs I have now are taken over by even the street lights and aren't even close to bright, and I am always flashing people for their brights

The LED's are 25w pull but come with the stuff to prevent power down

I will check out the piaa's ATH

Was it LibertyRS? I know he was on Jeepforum, not sure if he's on here. I think it was him that did it...

There's this that I saw on Instagram. He's from LI, and from reading a few of his comments it might be ATH's customer. From the looks of it he bought them. I'll check his Instagram out more or just talk to him when I eventually find time.

Edit: He paid $700. I don't think that includes him buying the Jet lights either so he can have his stocks in while those are made...

It probably doesn't count his spare lights but I would make them myself I saw a guy do these but put halo rings behind the lens so the bulbs could still glow just not bright

I wonder what kit or just everything they used to make this happen, I really want to do this, and if it comes out great maybe I can make more of these too

Here is LibertyRS's thread on retrofitting projector headlights:
http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=66886

The other guy who did this on a KJ was Infernicus. I think he sold his KJ sometime within the last year IIRC.

Did he sell it? I haven't talked to him in a while. I know it was up for sale though.

I remember it being up for sale too, but I don't know if he sold it. I guess I was assuming he did, because I haven't seen him post on the forum in a long time.
