I pulled this idea from when I had my GTO and the adjustable coilover kits featured a threaded, collared "spring pad" to allow adjustment of the rear, since it was a trailing arm design with separate spring and shocks. I was looking at the rear axle and was wondering why this couldn't be done to allow some adjustment on to the rear for those people who have a JBA Adjust a Strut. It was a little quiet today at work so I threw together a couple of quick cad drawings. What do you think:

The Base Pad:

The Collar which actually supports the spring:

Assembled in the "Stock" Height position:

Assembled with Lift:

The one issue I guess I could see is coil bind since you are using a shorter spring to try and achieve a taller lift. One idea is that you could make the Collar have a solid top instead of open so that as you raise the spring, the contact point for the bump stops also raises so the effective distance stays the same. This may also eliminate the need for hockey pucks with a taller tire. I could also be making stuff up, you tell me.

I see this as being the same thing as adding more isolators but is fully adjustable and looks super epic in red anodized aluminum

Little late to the party, granted no KJ specific ones but the JK/TJ ones can be modified to work.I have had the front ACOS Pro's on my KJ for over 5 years now.

Yeah I mean I figured they existed since I've seen them for my GTO, just not for ours specifically. People spend all that time putting in isolators so i figured why not. Plus it looked like you could make them a lot simpler than those and therefore cheaper. Do those mount above or below the spring?

The other issue is that those cant go down to a 0" lift. They are 2" - 3-3/8". If you were running a jba 2.5" spring and stuffed that in there you would potentially be at 4.5" minimum.

They mount on top of the coil.Mine have nitrogen filled air bumps stops that are also adjustable. They are stupid simple in design(but very well built) and made to be little to no modification to the vehicle.

I like your idea. It could be put in an adjusted up. No fighting the rear axle to get lift.

What about designing or integrating an adjustable bump stop for the rear?

Thats what I was saying, if you make a solid top to the collar that actually threads up and down, assuming you dont need bump stops for the 2.5" lift then you wouldnt need it when you adjust. The collar moves up with the spring so the distance between the bump stop and the collar wouldnt change as you increase the lift. The only issue with this is that it may obstruct suspension travel as you go higher because the bumpstop will hit before the tire fully tucks in the wheel well. Ill remodel the collar so that its apparent what I am talking about.

Alternately, you could make the base plate more solid where you only have a smaller thread in the middle for a separately adjustable plate for the bump stops to strike. This would allow you to lift the jeep but also separately adjust the bump stop for more articulation. Either that or just leave it completely open and people can continue to use hockey pucks.

I'd rather just run a 4 inch spring and be done
On the OME/ Ironman springs you're only adding an inch so those spacers you're thinking of couldn't be very big
Then the whole price thing , two extra isolators per side is pretty cheap

But keep dreaming
When I first started reading on here in 04 ( most ) everyone believed you could never go over 2.5 inches

Ha, hey someday Ill have a huge turbo and propane injection on this CRD. A man can dream.

I agree though. Ideally you would have a spring sized for the lift. But I was thinking of this more out of convenience. For the same reason that the JBA coilovers are great because you can adjust on the fly when you add a bumper/winch/skid plates, these would allow minute adjustments but also allow for an inch or two of additional lift, maybe more until the coils bind assuming you leave the collar as an open piece for the bump stops to travel through. This would do the same without having to add/subtract isolators. Ideally it would work with the same spanner wrench as the JBA's

I think they would be excellent. Especially if your carrying an extra 400 to 500 lbs of gear for a week long excursion. Quick boost in the driveway and your done. After the trip, lower em back down.
