Anyone on here have a CRD in New Jersey? What are the emissions tests like, especially for a CRD with the GDE tune? When I bought the Jeep, the previous owner had removed the entire factory exhaust for a straight pipe - I had a muffler shop weld in a muffler, but there's no cat. Wondering if I'm going to have to find a cat before registering it in NJ? Any thoughts would be appreciated!

And - any recommended shops in the Newark area that have experience with our Jeeps?

I live in Jersey. Had a hard time finding info on diesel vehicles.
This site may help you out. http://www.state.nj.us/mvc/Inspections/ ... Diesel.htm
What part of Jersey are you moving to if you don't mind me asking?
Welcome to Jersey! 8)

Be prepared for sticker shock in NJ in both registration, inspections, and insurance.

If there is any way to co title it with someone left in Arkanas, that may look economically attractive by leaving on the Arkanas plates.

I'll be working downtown Newark, near Military Park. We haven't settled on a a place to live yet - housing prices and property taxes are going to take a while to get used to! We have some friends in Bound Brook - looking at areas around there.

We don't have any family here in Arkansas - and actually from what I've found, it looks like AR is actually more expensive in terms of registration and personal property taxes on a car. My initial thought was to sell the Jeep, go down to 1 car, and take the train in to work...until I found out how much a monthly rail pass would cost - driving in will be much less expensive (plus parking is provided by the company).

I'm 5 miles away from Bound Brook. I live in Raritan.
