I finally got around to installing the factory skids on the CRD. I ordered both the transmission and transfer case skids from JPARTS for $79.96 for both delivered free. ($39.98 each) couldn't buy them locally for that price. Ordered on Friday had them on Wednesday.

Even if you don't wheel often the factory transmission skid offers protection for the oil filter that hangs way to low.

Cool! how long/difficult was the install process?

Also, can you please tell me which LSD you're using? Happiness factor?

I'm an old fart with arthritic hands amoung other places and things wrong and it only took about 15 minutes by myself to install. I paid to have the fuel tank installed, just thought better of the job and my health.

Thanks! I realized mine doesn't have any real good protection... went over some curbs doing a "shortcut" while stuck in traffic, and heard something scratching. Don't know what it was, but didn't like it. City traffic does feel like rock crawling sometimes 8)

I have the factory LSD, for 2006 it was not an option because of the electronic traction control. The LSD does work, I could feel it often when I had the crappy goodyear tires with zero wet traction.

It took me an hour to install it would have been less but have a shoulder injury slowed me down so I had to use a jack to support the transmision skid. Also The instructions don't show but you need to slide the 2 prongs where the oild drain cut out is into slots on the cross member. They may get bent in shipping and need realigned very easy to do.

As someone else noted the transmission skid is with it weight in gold protecting the oill filter.
