Thanks for sharing, I did this on a Cherokee and the plastic was so brittle that it held for few days. Good enough till I got a proper replacement. But that steiger performance kit is the best imo.

Been there, done that, plus several other attempted kludges
- results factored on state of nylon slide, whereby it's usually already brittle and disintegrating
- oem design hadta use the nylon compound because a steel slide would need constant renew-it\refresh-it lubrication, much like an electric motor with sleeve bushings
- anyone ever pulled out an older mechanism and seen the hardened lumps of paste, where the petroleum base had evaporated and left the fiber, would easily understand that scenario

Can't see that repair lasting too long but the good news is that you can pick up a kit to do all 4 for around $75. http://www.autoandart.com/02-06-jeep-li ... epair-kit/

Use the Steiger kit and be done with it.

Yeah both my rear windows failed like that about 8 months apart. Ironic part is I'm a single guy and no one regularly rides in the back, the windows are very rarely down. when the first one dropped it was when I closed the door after putting an item on the back seat, second one when I hit the switch for rear passenger window when I wanted to lower the front. Both fronts have yet to fail and are up and down all the time.

I used the Steiger kit on both rear windows. It works great the first time it did take me a while and I had some trouble with broken plastic bits stuck in the end of the spiral cable tube.

When the driver's side rear window fell in my recently-acquired '06 Liberty, I picked up one of the 4-piece Steiger-style kits from autoandart.com (I figure all four windows will need it at some point). But when I got into the rear doors, I found that one of the POs had installed aftermarket regulator & motor assemblies, dang it. After some digging, I found the source, and wrote up a "review" of sorts, FWIW.
