Hey guys. After some financial struggles I'm finally getting a cb this Friday and I just want to get some final opinions from you all. My choices have been brought to the cobra 29 lx and the uniden bearcat 980 ssb. I've YouTubed and Googled comparisons and see that the uniden has more features and a 6 pin mic where the cobra has better weather features and a 4 pin. While I'm still researching everything on CB radios I don't know the difference between the pins but overall I want what will do the best. As expected the reviews are mixed. Some love both. Some say both suck.

Cobra is at 95 bucks while the uniden is at 109. So any input will help. Thanks all and hope every one has a safe 4th of July. Thanks guys

Cobra is a very good name that I often see for sale in truck stops.
If you don't care about a few scratches you could pick up a used CB radio in a pawn shop for less cash.

Have you considered where to mount your antenna? That decision can be more important that what radio you buy.
Myself I have a K40 magnet mount placed in the centre of my roof.
It works great and should I hit it on a low tree branch it simply falls over instead of snapping off.

Go with the cobra. 4 pin is universal, grab a good noise cancelation mic. Get it peaked and tuned and you will be talking real good.

I prefer a hard mount antenna vs a mag mount, plenty of options. I made my bracket for mine.

Im currently running a Stryker sr490 with a 1500 watt linear amp. You dont need all of that. Cobras are tough, very reliable, great radios.

Thanks for the input guys. I was beginning to think no one was gonna respond. I'm continuing to do the research and have asked a few friends and everyone is leaNing towards the cobra. As for antennas I've seen a few set ups I like and am a bit of a Japanese vehicle. Meaning when I went to the offroad expo cruise I absolutely loved the LED antennas that a lot of guys were rocking. So I'm looking pretty hard into the setup of the CB, where to mount the antenna, and about to start research on the amplifiers.

Buy the best antenna you can afford. Dont cheap out on the coax cable or the antenna. Thats the heart of a good CB setup

Good decision!

I didn't mention to get a mic holder. having one leaves the clutter out of the way. I have mine hooked up to my passenger side visor, which is legal! you get used to the swaying cord and doesn't really impede view

I'm going to mount it in the center console. My buddy is going to scan and 3d print the coin tray with the dimensions cut out of the side so it fits around the cb. That way I still have some storage there. But I'll keep the suggestion in mind Do u have any pics of yours mounted up?
