I just bought a 2012 KK Sport and i am looking to put a rear hitch on it for towing/bike rack/recovery. Can anyone lead me in a good direction as for a hitch? i.e. molar, random company off amazon or eBay, etc... I believe i read at one point too on this forum somewhere someone saying something about only being able to tow 2,500lbs since it did not come with the factory towing package and something else about a hitch recall. Should i be looking into that? Thanks for the help and advice.

Yes, without the tow package we're limited to 2500lbs. However, you can add the hitch, wiring, and mechanical fan to make the tow package (this is what most of us believe is included in the tow package, there's no solid information on anything else). After all the additions you'll have a 5000lbs rating.

Here's the how-to on the mechanical fan:

As for hitch preference, I went Mopar. The aftermarket hitches hang down too low and too far past the bumper for my liking. The Mopar hitch tucks up and actually cuts part of the bumper (it's designed to be cut) so that it's out of the way.

Go mopar. It tucks up nicely into the bumper. So it doesn't affect your departure angle.

You'll need to cut out the cutout in the rear bumper for the OEM hitch. Center rear bumper underside.

Thanks for the replies. Do you just cut it with a dremel tool or a special pair of shears?

X4 in the Mopar...it sits quite a bit higher than others and IMO built a lot better.

Unless you're towing campers just get the cheap 4 way flat wiring harness from Curt.
