What spring compressors are people using to assemble the front struts? I put mine together just fine, and when I went to take them apart, the coils are to close to pull out the spring compressor hooks. Any advice?

I'd recommend only using a wall mounted spring compressors. It's worth having a pro do it for $50-60.

I never use those cheap ones due to being unsafe ( yes they may work great for a regular car spring)
But they do not work on manly springs used on Jeeps ( like OME/ Ironman etc)
Take to a shop and pay them, your body will thank you in the long run

I was able to get it the first one compressed just fine. It did take a little longer than I expected because of how far you have to get them, but it worked just fine. Maybe i'll look around for a shop here.

I was able to use the spring compressor I rented for Carquest to take the stock springs off my stock struts but they did not fit the OME springs. Cant remember if it was because the total coil diameter was too tight or if the coil(wire) diameter was too big. I had a shop do it.

Also, as others said it was not the best idea. The compressors were not happy, even at the stock spring rate. They would have never worked on the OME 790's even if they had fit.

When the shop was compressing my ome springs back, their wall mount actually gave way at one of the clamp points. Be very careful if you do it yourself

I have seen someone use the "autozone" compressor before. The clamp gave way, the spring then threw itself out of the other clamp and the OME 927 went flying towards the shop wall. It took out part of their cinder block wall. Not pretty
