Fortunately in South Africa a few years ago the Goverment banned all driving on our beaches....idiots in 4X4 vehicles and Quad bikes were totally destroying the envirement and especially destroying nests of endangered bird species.

Now if you want to do any trails it has to be inland on private land.

So what the idiots do now is go to the neighboring countries such as Mozambique and Namibia to wreck their beaches.

I am sure though that the USA with its long streches of beaches will have some beaches available for driving on while other Eco-sensitive ones will be strictly off limits to vehicles.

There are very few places here in the USA where you can drive your vehicle onto the beach.
Daytona has a small stretch where its allowed. I didn't know about Vilano Beach until I went there on saturday. Its a small area on a inlet, not actually on the ocean.
Most of the east coast doesn't allow vehicles on the beach due to sea turtle nesting areas.

Every year Daytona hosts the JeepBeach event. I haven't gone there yet but it attracts lots and lots and lots of Jeeps. Most of it is held at the raceway with some cruising on the beach.
