So I finally had some time in Savannah to start banging away on the dead motor (search for the thread "valve the other other white meat") and try to un-stuck the #4 piston. I got the oil pan off and made a nice mess of that, and I'm looking through this and realizing that I really haven't got a clue what I'm doing with the bottom end. This means that the opportunities to screw it up are many, and with a LOT of labor needed to even get it to a point of knowing whether I did screw up... That doesn't thrill me.
Better to know my limitations and leave this for someone that is more familiar with that end of the business.
So I have the following for sale, pictures upon request.
Short block - 3 good pistons / sleeves, CP3 pump, oil cooler and some small bits and mounts. DOES NOT ROTATE. Cylinder #4 piston munched 3 valves, possibly has bent rod. Balance shafts removed and will go with block, rod end is visible and accessible but not unbolted. Turns out, I don't have the proper socket here to do that.
Valve cover from this engine. Cams are in good condition overall, will need emery cloth or wire wheel to clean surface rust from pulley end - rest of the cams are great. Engine sat exposed before I got to it, but this is only light protective rust, not damaging corrosion.
4 working injectors
Head - Why would you want it? Cylinder #4 area is *chewed to bits* and 3 valve seats are destroyed. I guess if you had a project or wanted to experiment?
Exhaust manifold in good condition.
Several EGR valves and intake elbows and FCV valves. I don't know why you'd want them, but I have them.
PROJECT CRD - COMPLETE WITH ALL PARTS - Just not assembled. The engine in this CRD was torn down and found to have multiple broken rockers, mismatched injectors, and a tapping when running. Replaced rockers did not solve problem. Suspected bottom end issues - rod bearing kit INCLUDED NEW IN PACKAGE and I am not disassembling the engine further to try installing this - as detailed above. Engine is currently torn down to rockers, in prep for pulling block from body. All parts are complete and protected from elements.
CRD is a 2005 sport, light khaki color, cloth seats in good condition. Body in great shape, tinted windows and interior in good to better-than-average shape. Motor is at 120k miles IIRC. Tires in decent condition, about 8/32 of tread.
I am firm at $1800 on the CRD - that is what I have in it, and accepting reasonable offers on the loose parts. Everything is located in Savannah Georgia, and obviously the CRD will need to be towed out as a rolling body.
