I replaced the fuel head recently and assumed it should be OK. I last primed the system 4 days ago. However as suggested I checked and there was in fact air in the system. I primed it again but the sound is still there. I will have to get clear tubing installed on the fuel head so I can see what is happening. I just drove 1800km in 2 days and no problems encountered except for the strange sound. I can also confirm that the rattle sound definetely only occurs when engine warm. When cold everything is fine.

hmm, I guess the leaking seam expands when it's warmer. Sure does sound like my air sucker.
Maybe the quick connect at the tank is sucking just the right amount of air

I recommend a lift pump. The issues will surface more as these vehicles get older. A lift pump can hide the issue for quite a while
