Hello everyone. New to kjs but have had multiple wjs in the past. Question... What would cause my kj to act like its braking when I'm giving it gas. Is it a tranny issue or tx case issue. Any help is appreciated.

Is the parking brake on?

You are going to have to be more descriptive.
Does it go into gear when you put it in drive?
Does it move at all?

Parking brake off, car in drive, give it gas and it tries to gox forward, but feels like the front wheels are pushing back. I don't know how else to describe it. And the weird thing is , is that there is no pattern to when it happens. Most of the time jeep runs fine . But randomly it will act up. Could it be associated with the 4x4?

Sounds very strange.
Could be the front brake calipers freezing up.
Thats all I can think of.

Yra its super strange. I don't know what's up. What's really weird is when I give it more gas it causes more resistance. Less gas less resistance.

If I was going to say its something, I'd say it could be a front caliper. I had something similar happen when I bought mine a few years ago. When I would drive, it would feel like the back end was dragging. Happened on and off until one day it just kept dragging. When I got home, there was smoke coming from my wheel. The caliper seized and burned up the pad and rotor. Replaced the caliper and no issues since :) I guess an easy way to check is to jack up the Jeep and pull off the wheels and look at the brake pads and rotors. If one looks more worn than the other, could be an indication one caliper could be a little sticky. Also if when you pull in your driveway one is way hotter than the other, could be another indication.

Sounds like sticky calipers. I have had to replace rears and fronts. Only seemed to happen on longer trips. Like it was a thermal run away issue. Getting the calipers hot makes item more likely to stick. Cooling down the calipers with water made it drivable enough to get home and repair it.
BTW the Pistons are phenolic plastic. Napa sell calipers with metal pistons.
