Speedometer works, no odometer. Perhaps diff plug or sensors?

My symptoms were just like yours and the problem ended up being a broken wire at the rear wheel speed sensor. Mopar has a high quality kit to repair and upgrade to a larger diameter wire.

What year is your CRD?

Newer models pick up the speed from the wheel sensors...early models picked up speed and Odometer from the sensor on the rear diff. So olypopper probably has the right answer for you :?

It s a 2005, the brake light and abs light is on. I put new rotors on a few months ago along with new pads. But I think they have been on for awhile. Is it the driver or passenger side?

There is no way to tell.
Best you can do is remove both front wheels and inspect the ABS sensor wires for damage.
Im pretty sure both left and right sensor are the same.

Op, check right on top of your rear diff. I'm gonna bet the wires to the sensor have either broke or frayed.

There is a TSB for all 2005 KJs....gas and diesel...that the rear diffs may have been filled with the wrong type of oil at the factory. This oil eats up the speed sensor on the rear diff. Dealers are supposed to drain, flush and replace the diff oil and fit a new sensor. I will try and find this TSB if I can. I gather that the 2005 uses three sensors for ABS, two for the front wheels and the sensor on the rear diff.

If you do not find frayed wires to the diff sensor and you have not replaced the diff oil I would suggest you drain and refill the diff oil and replace the diff sensor or talk to the Dealers. :?

The TSB may still apply but is out dated by now. The new speed sensor part number that I listed is most current and comes with the oring installed.

Tks all, this problem is on crd2, crd1 is in my garage with a a loss of power and no shift up for the last two gears. It s interesting that the abs sensors and the diff sensor are also possible candidates for that issue. The Wx stinks so I ll just have to wait since I can live with a few lights and no odometer. But I ll need. to go to the dealer in brownsville and order the parts. Always takes a week. I ve cked the servo actuator with a vac pump and it s moving ok. Next to bypass the relay. (For the power part of the problem, but curiously, they both occurred on the same day).
