I am new to this site, I just purchased a jeep liberty 2 weeks ago after owning a VW JETTA for 4 years. I am a carpenter and the JETTA just wasn't big enough to fit my tools anymore. Anyways, I have been looking up roof racks, so I can carry Lumber, plywood, etc. I discovered the Rocky Road ones, does anyone have any reviews on them or any suggestions?? Thank you!

What kind of lumber do you plan on hauling?

I made my own cross rails using strut-brace and clamps. Loaded full sheets of plywood and 2x4s on there with no problem.
Most of what you find for roof racks are more like baskets and not very good for carrying lumber.
If you don't like what you see for sale, make your own.

I sold my dodge 3500 and converted a single axle boat trailer for hauling stuff. The CRD doesn t know it s there. I have a tandem axle with heavy duty side rails and headache rails.
That is a bit heavier. Point being, Don t need the high dollar pickup and my dane prefers the a/c.

Purchased the rack that was designed for a van. I wanted a factory look fit so removed all the original roof bars and plastic trim and made up new runners and brackets. Great for caring 4 x 8 sheets.
