There are a few pics and reports from when we were trying to work out the impact of discoing the front awhile back. I'll just link to the thread rather then re-post it... hope mods don't mind.

I won't disconnect my front anymore as I'm really worried about blowing my steering rack. I've got two mates who have both done racks in their KKs (One has blown it multiple times and had to get it custom re-enforced) and they are confident their lifts, coupled with disconnecting, is just putting too much pressure and they end up cracking the weak rack mounts. The minor benefit from discoing just wasn't that worth it in the end...

I am interested in learning more about discoing the rear though whilst off-road and milking some more flex out of that area if possible so keen to learn and see some pics of people who have done it.

Got it !

I know I'm way late to this party but I run disconnected all the way around now. I disconnected the back first then the fronts and I actually think it drives better disconnected in the front. And this whole it's vital for the front thing is lame. I have been running disco'd for over 2 years now and never looked back.

I have JBA quick disconnects up front but I dont use them much. There nice but the steering rack weakness issue is not worth the additional flex. (Working on a brace to fix that issue) I removed my rear swaybar so that I dont lift the rear wheels as much on the trail. I did not like the feeling going down obstacles and a rear wheel wanted to lift all the time. Feels more stable offraod and not much different on road. I even had extended rear links and decided that it still had to go. Removing the rear added another problem to the mix. Driveline and the gas tank skid like to kiss at extreme flex. Tom woods driveline will fix issue and I have that ordered. About $425 from Tom woods if anyone else is having the same issue.
