I took CRD #2 for an italian tune up yesterday, I noticed about half way through that I started to get a squeeky noise coming off the front.

I was assuming one of the roller idlers for the serpentine belt had failed, I pulled off the belt and of course the noise stopped, I checked all the idlers and none seemed noisey, then I went to the alternator.......it made a pretty good squeeky sounds by hand. Keep in mind that this is a new rebuilt from autozone I have had on the shelf awhile.

So I pulled the used one out of the good spares box, installed it, no more squeeky squeeky.

Lesson: Installing a new part while you have everything apart isn't always a good idea. Used one works just fine so I'll leave it on, already swapped out Mr. Squeeky at autozone for a new remain under warranty.
