I would like to see the output of your new filter ran into a provent before going to the turbo. I am curious to see if there are any vapors that dont settle in the clear hose.

And when you say it mounts under the oem pressure regulator are you talking about the black plastic bit that is held on with 3 bolts? And once we get our hands on them would it be something we should take off before going in for service?

1.) You can can check it with provent if you want, all required is to buy one when they go on sale.

2.) Yes under the "black plastic bit that has the three screws" is attached to the new filter then togeather they are installed back on the valve cover.

3.) Yes easy to install and uninstall. I have arthretic hands and can do the uninstall and return to stock in about 5 minutes, if you have any wrenching skills you should be able to do it in 3 or 4 minutes.[/b]

I'm wondering is there any way to put something like this between the turbo and the intercooler? Or is that where this goes?
Now remember that I am not that smart when it comes to diesels or turbos.

It goes between the output of the CCV on top of the engine and the air intake tube. This filters it before it hits the turbo and the intercooler.

You guys will really like this set up. You will be able to take it to dealership and have oil changed and no one would know the unit was there. I bet if the tech is not a diesel tech and versed with the CRD he will miss it when the cover is removed.

Hehehehehe I know, but before we/I want something to go to the market, I want to be sure it works. So far I have not had enough time to test and see what if any improvements are needed. We have found some minor stuff wrong that needs fixing and should not be a problem, but you never know till you do the fix.

I need to take the one I have off and do some tweeking to the design this weekend, which I look forward to doing. The problem is it has been hot and humid here and working in 95* heat and 90% plus humidity in the garage is tough on this old fart. Weather forcast is for a heat break with some rain over the weekend so hopefully I won't stroke out in the heat.

Man I have been looking at those portable units that have an exhuast hose that mounts into the window to exchange out the hot air and doubles as a heater in the winter. The $$$ has been the stopper.

Walt, it's a darn shame you're not in Ohio. I work at a circuit city and we sell those. I could have hooked you up with a good deal:D

Been looking at one of those too.... Do not like my shop much this time of year. Been underneath my '29 Ford all morning pulling the front spring so I can re-arch it, and I'm soaked. Ready for a shower and OCTOBER...

I think I saw one of those advertised in last weekend's Lowe's circular. You might try there or at Home Depot. Georgia is pretty hot right now too.

Live long & perspire! :D

What is the brand name of the air conditioner that you are looking at for portability.

The one I looked at was at Home Depot, don't remember the brand name.

My part of the test is on hold as I had too much oil in the system to do a valid test and dealer has ordered hose that I am suppose to have replaced this Thursday. My turbo side hose is real soft and was sweating oil even after cleaning and reinstalling hose and the CCV filter. I have been running the elephant hose and checked the hose that normally runs from the CCV to air intake and it is still heavy coated with oil. The SM at dealer said they can pull the hoses and see if IC needs cleaning or replacing, so that is why I don't have the filter installed. They ordered the hoses but decided to wait and see about the IC because of the $650 cost (list) and want to see if it needs or can be cleaned.

The other tester has or had his in the shop for a tranny problem, but I have not heard any report from him on the CCV filter or the guy doing the design/build work in the last couple of weeks. I had 7000 miles on mine before the filter arrived and by that time I had started showing first oil problem signs and was not able to get all the oil out of the system. I am not real crazy about running open vent and doing that polution thing and I am looking forward to getting things cleaned up so I can reinstall the filter.

Is the indicator for this problem indicated by loosing oil...as indicated by the dipstick?
