so I have a question about the BLD that the dealer refuses to answer, but i have heard the rumor from a friend of a friend who works at jeep dealer ship.

I was told that if light break pressure is applied (just enough for your lights to come on, but not enough for the brakes to engage) that will force the traction control system into a full lock, front and back sending 25% of torque to each wheel, when on 4WD hi/Low. Has anyone else heard this, or can anyone confirm this?

The reason i ask is that if this is true, it is very easy to wire a rocker switch to the brake switch behind the brake pedal, and tell the computer that the brake is being pressed and for the jeep into front and rear lock.
Cheers!

Wrong. BLD uses the wheel speed sensors to detect speed or spin differences from wheel to wheel and applies brake pressure to the faster spinning wheel(s) to force torque to the other wheels with more traction.

That only works on mechanical limited slips. To some extent on an open, but it's also an easy way to break something:)

Actually doing that will save parts as you are reducing wheel spin and shock loads when that free spinning wheel suddenly gains traction.

A issue well known in KJ's for the front diff to explode when 1 wheel is in the air with a open diff.

This also a recommended action for DTT's and Torsen diffs.

Never thought about it that way. It's gotten me out of some situations before that if I hadn't learned the whole left foot braking thing early on probably would have had to strap it up. But people always told me it was hard on equipment to do so. Of course really what would it be hard on, 30 dollar replaceable pads?
