I can't believe I got hit again! Interestingly enough, I just posted yesterday about the other two times I got rearended in my KJ... should've knocked on wood. This is the sixth time in seven years that I've been hit! Do I have a gigantic magnet on my stupid or what  Not much damage this time but the lady tried to say that it was preexisting and she should not have to pay. If worse comes to worse I'll just claim uninsured driver on my own insurance.

I can't say it enough, EVERYONE SHOULD GET UNINSURED DRIVER COVERAGE!!! preferably with zero deductable... and watch out for distracted seniors

Sorry to hear that! Rearenders may seem "minor" but some of them really suck! I've been in a neck brace from my last one. (Thankfully not in my Liberty!)

Oh, and I got under / uninsured motorist coverage. :)

Man that is messed up.
I got rear ended 3 weeks after I bought my 03 KJ Sport. I was at a stop light and this town cop actually hit me and I was like MAN WTF?
When I got out I saw his bumpber all smashed and lights broken, I was like, yea mine is damaged. When I looked, the only thing that happend was the dealer name plate came off. I smiled and said thanks copper!
But a few days later I did notice that something else went wrong, My lift glass would pop open at any freaking time. I took it to the dealer and they said it was a recall on the 03 sports. The moter relay would short out and open the glass.

I got off easy

Maybe if the libby's brakes weren't so good they wouldn't get rearended so much!!

My girlfriends got rearended on her way to work one day. she let the lady go. here in MA the person that rearends you is automatically at fault....cause it is your fault if you do the rear ending! Anyways, she didn't get her info and the tire carrier bent the rear hatch a bit, but just the sheet metal. We're putting on either 245s or 255s soon...and I'm sure this will be an issue for the spare.

I bet more people would pay attention if they had to worry about running into one of these rear bumpers. :D

My camaro used to get rear ended occasionally, usually when some idiot was parking behind me. It had this stupid expensive "flex paint" and repairs used to run like $350 if the bumper just got scratched. I finally put on a sport trailer hitch and removed the ball leaving just the drawer bar sticking out like 6". I got rear ended at a toll plaza after that and the thing went right through the guys radiator! Plus he had to pay for my scratched up bumper! I've always wanted to just put a long spike out the back but figured I'd probably walk into it!

Hey Rock Lizard, that ain't a bumber... It's a sedan catcher!

So, since when did insurance companies stop issuing checks!!!  I was hoping to get some cash $$$ to finance my drive cross-country but come to find out all I get is a comped repair. THAT SUCKS!!! Last time I got rearended I got a check for about $1500. Now I get zero? What a gip

I know what ya mean, I got rear-ended the day after I got my KJ, man was I PISSED! Thing is the guy behind me was a victim as well - the car behind him hit hard enough to push him into me, so he had damage both front and rear.

It might help the spare stay away from the lift glass. At least thats what it did for me when I got hit.

On my old 2002, I had the Trailready front and rear bumpers...a lawn maintenance truck (1 Ton fully loaded) rear ended me as traffic came to a halt on the highway. We both got out and headed to the point of impact...He was already apologizing until he saw the damage. It only scratched off some powdercoat on mine and cracked the taillight lens...his chevy 1 ton was cruched back to the front wheelwell, radiator gushing, headlights smashed and hood crumpled. He could not believe that HE was the one who got the worst of it. When the cop showed up he asked where the car was that was rear ended...I pointed to my KJ. He asked the Lawn Care guy if some of his damage was pre-existing...lol. I drove away...the lawn Truck was towed away.

Traded in the 2002 with the bumpers...since they wouldn't easily transfer to the 2006 CRD...going to design something else...it is top secret!

Got any pics of those bumpers? Sounds like they were more than just trail heavy to take out a 1 ton without any damage to the Jeep.

I nearly rear-ended some jerkwad the other day. He exited the freeway onto a local street in the middle lane! I was going 55 at the time (that's the speed limit on this particular stretch of the road, going up to 60 a little later). He was in a loaded-down pickup truck. Saw me coming up fast, so he moved to the right lane, which was around the time I began to move to the right lane. I moved back into the middle lane. He did, too.

Finally I just took the right lane and went on with it ... by then I had about eight feet left, squaled my tires a little bit

Can't wait until I have decent front & rear bumpers ...

One of my buddies was following me the other day and rear ended me. He was driving a 95 Civic. He was behind me, but for some reason decided to take off from the stop sign before I did. Didn't do any damage to my Jeep, he went under the spare a few inches. I was amazed it didn't bend the tire mount. Messed up the front of his hood though.

I had my KJ hit when it was parked last Thanksgiving and the insurance company cut me a check. It is only crack in the front right corner of the bumper so I am holding out to get the Rock Lizard front bumper when it comes out!!!! Maybe different insurance company's policys vary?

Joseph said something about "uninsured driver". The deal often is that if your insurance company is paying you off they reimburse the shop which would be the case in "uninsured driver" but if it is the other guys insurance you can generally demand a check.
