So, when I'm low on gas I get a little "ping" and a little fuel pump lights up on my dashboard.
When I'm low on windshield washer fluid I get a chime, a "Low washer fluid" notice and a picture of a w/shield wiper on my EVIC and another display in my odometer that reads"LOWASH" also, the darn evic does this everytime I start the engine until I hit the button!
Shouldn't being low on fuel trigger more alerts than being low on washer fluid?

Being low on fuel, running out means you pull over...

Being low on washer fluid and you run out could mean catastrophe depending on conditions and speed...

Just my $.02....

However I do agree that being low on fuel should be equally as important though...

Anyone happen to know the estimated KMs or Miles left once the low fuel light has come on?

i was driving back to school one night, very dark, just at 32 degrees. There was a very slight drizzle which began to freeze to my windshield. The only thing to keep it from staying frozen was my wiper fluid....I'd say it's important. Just go buy some. I top off on wiper fluid almost as much as I do on gas; I check it all the time.

I think it's 15 according to the EVIC. Of course, that "15 miles remaining" ends up being more like 50 realistically, it counts down to zero and will stay there for a long time running on the extra gallon or two.

But I agree as well. If they can make the evic alert you about low fuel, it could put a little notice on the EVIC. Then again, the EVIC does have a miles-to-empty display, does that count?

usually when my gas up light comes on it means I have about 2.5 gallons left...so depending on how many miles your getting to the gallon you should know approximately how many miles you got left before your fuming in 2 ways...mad and gas

There's a reason they're called "idiot" lights.

Do you want the program "modified"? I'm going to be off-line for a week, but if it bothers you too much, wwe could "fix" it....

My fuel alarm went off with the EVIC showing 42 miles but that is on a CRD so the 2.5 gals is probably the standard. I know the EVIC isn't perfectly accurate though and I could have driven much further than 42 miles. Not wise to run out of fuel on a diesel though.

Actually, I think that low washer chime and display is anoying. I don't know if you guys are like me but I check my fluids all of the time specially the washer fliud. I keep an extra full bottle with me at all times. I hate a dirty window, more so in the winter time.

I really do not know if my low fule light actually works because I have never seen it light up .

The first time that low wiper fluid chime came at me I thought for sure something was about to blow up. I mean, THAT's a chime that gets your attention. After I finally figured out what it was I started laughing. Wow! I didn't realize that low washer fluid was quite that important.
