According to the Buid-it portion of the Jeep website, it shows that the Trailer Towing option includes a heavy duty radiator and power steering cooler. Can anyone confirm this?

Not sure about the radiator but the power steering cooler is correct. The '05 models all had the trailor tow package cooling and all that was needed to be tow equipped was to install a hitch. They decided to save a few dollars and make the power steering cooler an option (and maybe the radiator) to decrease cost of vehicle for non towing people like my wife (but keep pricing the same) then charge extra dollars for a trailor tow package that is very low in their cost but increases their proffit margine.

Also if you have the '06 towing package you should have the 85w-140 gear oil already in the rear differential, on the '05 model it says in the OM to change to the 85w-140 oil for towing.

Where did they put the power steering cooler on the 05's? Mine has the Tow package. Cannot find the PS Cooler, unless it is under the the driver's side headlight. I believe that the AC Condenser and tranny cooler are one unit in front of the intercooler. Traced power steering lines to under headlight. Cann't see cooler though.

I have wondered about the cooler for the PS on the '05 model (I was repeating just what another member posted) as all I have ever seen is a mile of PS lines but no finned cooler, and I can't even imagine why we need one for TT package, it uses the ATF that we use in the CRD tranny and NAG1/W5A MB tranny used in LX cars and Sprinter, I am not sure but I think the MOPAR fluid is actually Mobil 1 synthetic tranny fluid. For '05 models only thing the TT package listed was wiring package & hitch, unless there was a change after July of '05 for the TT package I am not aware of. I don't think it included a draw bar and ball however.

No PS cooler on the CRD. I have one on my 02 Liberty V6, its clearly visible from the front grill. I traced my 05 CRD and verified in the FSM - no PS cooler on the CRD, even if you have the tow package.

Well I wondered why they would even need a cooler for trailer towing, mainly because you are using the PS very little compared to when in the city or off roading.

That said here is what is listed on the Jeep build your on site for the TT package:

7-Pin Wiring Harness
7-to-4-Pin Wiring Adaptor
Heavy Duty Engine Cooling
Class III Hitch Receiver
Power Steering Cooler

On the '05 model all that was listed was:

7-Pin Wiring Harness
7-to-4-Pin Wiring Adaptor
Class III Hitch Receiver

I have not looked but I doubt that there is a different radiator involved either, but I have not looked in the FSM to be sure. Like I said earlier I think Jeep just figured out how to get a few more $$$ for the same product that was free in '05 MY Jeep.

Yeah, never could figure out why a PS cooler would help towing.

I guess if you had a weight distributing hitch that loaded the front it would help during low speed maneuvering.

If you are needing a cooler for all that low speed maneuvering then you are doing way too much manuvering IMO.

When shopping for a CRD I looed at left over 05's in addition to 06's. There was a substancial price difference for the towing package between the two years. Unforunatly I don't remember which one was highter

Tow package was about $200 for '05 and and about $350 I think of '06 models. I just remember it was cheaper option in '05, and in '05 all TT package was a hitch & wirring harness.
