So, I installed a brake controller in my Jeep and now I have some electrical issues. The controller has 4 wires, a +,-, and a brake light signal from the brake pedal. The remaining wire is what I thought I needed to tie into my harness by the hood release, the white wire with blue stripe. I did not cut this wire, but simply tied in the wire from the controller to it. Now when I hit the brakes my headlights come on! Not full on, and not all the time, but clearly something is wrong. Was I supposed to cut that wire and only tie to one side of it? Or am I way off and need a different wire?

The brake signal wire by the hood release should not be hooked up to anything on one end. Should just be dangling there behind the trim panel. My wire was blue...not white with a blue stripe....2006 CRD. 2005 might be different.

i am pretty sure my wire was blue also on a 2005 but I also think it had a label on it that said brake or something of that nature.

I looked all over for a loose wire. Well clearly I’ve tapped the wrong one. Back to the drawing board.

Okay finally found it. Man, I’d like to strangle whoever designed the plastic wiring tray cover. Also, my wire was red not blue. But, I’m good and rant over, thanks for the help.

just suggestion. Set up a signature with at least the model year of the Jeep and Sate of residence.
