Adding Intank Fuel Pump wiring to connectors

Hopefully this schematic drawing will help anyone planning to add an intank fuel pump to their Jeep CRD and want to add the two additional wires and terminals to their existing harness that are required without having to purchase the complete harness.

Some of us are just catching our CRD's up and the OEM and sasquatch harnesses are not available at the moment.

In addition this helped me troubleshoot my dead fuel gauge, which ended up being a rodent chewed signal wire up near the FCM

could you explain that, my sender in my 2006 is bad, so I was going to get this pump, did not know it needed more wring?

Explanation:
If you currently have not upgraded by adding an intank fuel lift pump, you have to add two additional wires to provide (1) a 12v power supply and (2) a ground for the fuel pump in the wiring harness from under the rear seat C307 connector to the connection on the fuel module in the fuel tank module.
The drawings I posted shows the locations of the two additional wiring requirements for both connectors.
*Note: the ground wire for the fuel pump under the rear seat does not go into the connector, rather it is connected directly to a good clean body ground point.

The Jeep CRD came from the factory with all the necessary wiring, ECM logic, relay wiring, etc...for the intank fuel pump;
except they DID NOT provide/install the two additional wires in the wiring harness from the connector under the rear seat to the top of the fuel tank which must be added to install and operate an intank fuel pump.

If you have installed or had it installed in the past, all the necessary wiring for an intank fuel pump, then you do not have to add any more wiring.

Thanks for all the help, I ordered the terminals, I am pretty sure it will be obvious once I take things apart, and no never had an in tank lift pump, just an inline under the hood. Been getting the Large fuel leak LHM lately, hopefully this and a new filter fixes everything up.

Well you are definitely making the right move!
The great thing about installing an "INTANK" fuel pump is that it puts the entire fuel feed system to the CP3 injection pump under about 12-15 psig pressure so if there are any leaks anywhere, they will become self-evident very quickly as they will leak fuel out instead of allowing air to be sucked in.

Inline pumps are ok for a short time fix, but they still have the problem of if there is a leak anywhere between the inline fuel pump and the fuel tank, the inline fuel pump will still suck air into the system which is very BAD on the CP3 injection pump and on the injectors themselves.

FYI: The push on hose connections between the fuel tank and the metal lines on the body were designed to seal under pressure, not vacuum. Mopar should have never used them on these vehicles without an intank fuel pump. The push on hose fittings will seal just fine with an intank fuel pump as they will be under pressure instead of vacuum. The push on fittings are a carryover from the gas-powered vehicles that have a much higher pressure intank fuel pump.

Here is a website that details and walks you through all the steps to install the intank fuel pump and modify the wiring harness by adding the two additional wires into the connectors to power the fuel pump. It also shows you how to add the APEX terminals to the wire ends.

Got my pump in today, and tested, now all I have to do is fill up the tank, pull the old inline one out under the hood, that was not working anymore, change the filter, and test drive. Took me 5 hours on a lift with Oh Fvck. Tank had 10 gallons of fuel left in it, I used an old Cummins Freightliner inline pump under the hood until it stopped pulling fuel and thought I was done. On the way down it snapped the connectors at the old sending unit, broke a rusty fuel supply tube, and ripped the sender wires off, and broke the vent tube off on the right side. Managed to fix all of that with stuff in the shop.

No wonder I was getting the large fuel leak every time I hammered it, Hot Tune with CP3 doing all the sucking, don't work well.

How does it run now? Can you tell any difference?
The one thing I noticed back in 2013 when I installed my intank Carter pump, the engine idled more smoothly and it seemed to have a little bit better response to the go pedal.

I took her out for the maiden voyage, my old Jeep is back again, step on the skinny and she moves, no more large fuel leak code. I got by just fine with an inline for years, but with the fuel gauge not working, it was time to drop the tank anyways. There are no more OE style lift pumps, now made in China, I was not able to use the old float arm, but I made sure it was sitting same level as the old one on E. It seems accurate enough, 5 gallons brought it to 1/4 of a tank. Running with no pump, I couldn't keep up with the Semis on the interstate hills, LOL.
