I have a 2006 Renegade with no skids. What are the skids that I am supposed to order?

Add Part # Description Price

82206122 Fuel Tank $115.00
82209026 Front Suspension, Steel (same as production) $49.00
82209455 Transfer Case, Steel, (same as production) $49.00
82210003 Transmission, Steel, bridges the gap between front and transfer case skid plates, front skid plate (82209026) must also be installed $49.00

When I look underneath the vehicule I don't see any of the same as production ones? Are they refering to the cross members?

Thanks

What they are saying is that these are the same as the skids that DC installs at the factory (in fact, those are standard Jeep part numbers, so they probably are factory). I always thought that the Rennys came from the factory with all the skids, but I guess if there is something different in the build package then maybe not... Those look like all the skids you will need to get your belly protected. Are you going to order thru the dealer or online? If online then justforjeeps.com has them cheaper than the prices you listed. Good luck.

Yeah... I thought so too, until I bought one and learned the truth. They are an option for all of the libertys with no predisposition to any model. :(

I get a discount on those. So I do get it cheaper than that. I just pasted the whole thing over from their mopar site. So those are just MSRP prices.

Thanks

Just be sure to get the right years. I believe the tcase skid is the only one to change between the years though. If you have a hitch then that gas tank skid will be alittle harder to put on. Its best to have a person to help with that one. I did it myself and it wasnt fun at all. Dropping a hitch on your head isnt the best thing to do.

I'll wear a helmet. heheh...

No, I have no hitch so it should be no problem. Do they all mount fairly easily? Are the holes already there?

THanks

There are hex-shaped holes that the threaded inserts (nut-serts) will need to go into. Al of the skids should come with all needed mounting hardware (including a tool to get teh nut-serts in place). After the nut-serts are in they should bolt right up.

The tranny skid is actually the one most people have a hard time retrofitting to older Libs; since he has an '06 all of the current skids should fit just fine.

Yup, they all should bolt up. The only one that will take some time is the tcase skid. Be careful not to overtighten the net-serts, they will strip very easily.

When I put them on, it was easy. the gas one (I don't have a hitch yet) was hard becuase the screws tap them self in, so have a long handle wrench.

Also, when I asked, I got these links as a help, and they did help me.

Also, start from the back, and install your way to the front. The engine one should be last as that and the Tcase skids share screws and you want the engine one to over lap the tcase one. that way, the lip the over lap makes, faces the back of the jeep.

That's odd my '02 KJ didn't come with either the gas tank skid or hitch and when I put them on the nuts were already welded in place and even had the bolts in them(torqued really tight to)! So I ended up with 12 extra bolts(6 that came with the skid and 6 that came with the hitch).Anybody else's come that way?It was sure nice of DC to do that for me though.
