Was far as the ECM going out of whack Im thinking the SP mod might help tune out the pressure issues, if they exist. or maybe it might throw it even further off? I really want one to test beween eco mode and power modes. I was planning o spend a day on the dyno with it.

OOooo.. Can't wait to see how the dyno runs go. If it boosts the ponies enough and increases your mileage, I just might be able to justify the cost.

what? Boost the poneys and increase the mileage? My guess is worse mileage with more poneys and better mileage with better fuel maps. Like I said though, I dont know if Im going to get one till I can get these issues straight for a base line.

Mudtrac, when I ran the test I believe your fuel pressure at 16000 psi. Not sure exactly but I think it was around that. That was sitting at idle. I would have to look at my manual but I believe they run at about 24000psi maxed. Has the check engine light come back on yet?? I know how you feel about going to the dealer, I spent a whole afternoon replacing the small clamp on air locker hose inside the front diff, just to avoid the down time at the dealership.

Hmmm, one other quick thought. Don't think this is the cause from the sound of things, but perhaps a small air leak in the fuel system?

Going by the FSM, you can check this yourself. Disconnect the fuel hose from the outlet of the fuel filter, and install a piece of clear tubing between the filter and the hose. Reprime the filter and fuel system. Start the engine, and if I remember correctly it says to rev it up to a certain speed (can't remember what right now), and check flow thru the clear tubing for any air going thru with the fuel.

If you are getting air, you can eliminate or confirm the fuel filter as the source by repeating the procedure on the inlet side of the filter.

As far as the connection right at the fuel pump, if you can get at that one without disassembling half the engine, we'll call you Houdini.

Ok from the last tank of gas,

Half tank was 218 miles - Friday
Empty light on @ 308 miles today.

I will have the gallons to fill this up after work, My guess is 18-19 gallons. which would be 16-17mpg better than 15 but still not what the norm is...

Im wondering what would happen if I just used half tanks, Im going to do my fill ups off this for week or so and do a check to see if I get better mileage off that method, in theroy that would be more like 400-440 miles per equal fill up of a full tank vs half empty if there is only 8 gallons going in. 218 into 8 gallons is more like 27mpg which would be awsome. Ill have to see what half way looks like, after todays fill up ill be half gone by friday.

when I filled up there was 312 miles and it took 18.897 gallons, which would be roughly 16.5 mpg...

Last tank was 228 miles till half and 321 till empty had to put in 18.865 gallons so thats 17mpg yes a little better than 15 like I was getting but for a controll Ive been using the same station and pump for the last 3 fillups. Whats killing me is the getting 200+ on half tank and then till empty trying to scratch up a 100 miles. This last tank im going to fill up at half and see how much fuel it takes, and do some math there, if im getting the 24-25mpg with half a tank then Ill chill out and just know to only drive till half full. All of this driving has been highway only, I live right off the highway and my job is too, havent driven the CRD anywhere else.

well your first or second tank isnt going to be your best, you need time to break the engine in, and diesels take a while. I have 12K on mine and im still getting crappy milage, well its hasnt always been bad, i had gotten closer to 380 on a tank 7K miles ago, but ive been watching it drop and drop.
