ok everyone relax, the bad spotter was me, and it was my fiance drivin. the spotter reference was only joke. wasnt really a spotting problem just that the truck slid as she was climbing a slippery rock face and bumped the rim hard. dented the rim and flattened the tire. its a steel wheel, im goin to beat it back into shape and repalce the tire. im replaceing it because there is a slight blem on the side wall, its a safety issue. and the rim will be my spare till i get new wheels/tires.

this is the reality of wheelin your truck. things can and will go wrong. things can and will break.
although your libby will amaze you with its capabilities, things can go wrong it happens, accept it.

and yes this trail can be done by a stock truck, please dont freak out.

the only issue i forsee is pinstipping from the bushes.
for those of you who dont know what pinstripping is, its when the branches drag down the side of your truck and leave lines in the paint :shock:

. some/most of these lines can be buffed out but not all, so make sure you can live with these little reminders of your misadventures. if your bringing a leased vehicle, you might want to think twice. they have no mercy when your lease is up.
you will get some scraping of the undercarriage, but only minor.

i only want to make sure everyone has an idea of what they may experience on this trail ride, please dont panic. those of you with some wheelin under their belt just ignore most of the above.

i will give a quick wheelin 101 in the am if anyone has any questions.

cutters? bring the bug spray, it was like the amazon in there. the mosquitos were big enough to carry a small child away :shock:

. seriously bring bug spray, and lots of it.

cutters too take care of those big branches that go thru clear coat,as for mosquitos we've been on a few rides like that already so I'll also make sure I pack my Flame Thrower :lol:

maybe with a some gas hedge trimmers, and a couple of weekends and some friends helping then maybe, oh yeah dont forget the hip boots your gonna need them. the water is deep

ever driven through the old style carwash? ya know the ones with the big blue brushes on either side of the car and one across the roof ? remember those.

its like driving through a jungle in places, no joke. there is heavy overgrowth
the fiance's libby is green, and at times all you could see was the spare everything else blended in with the vegatation. and i was right behind her.

you will come home pin-stripped. no question about it. as for the severity i cant say. there are no bypasses. you will need to go through these sections. some of them have water about 1.5 ft deep so no holdin the branches away from the truck.

i cant stress this point enough, you will leave there pin stripped.

im not trying to scare anyone, but i want you all to know the facts, and make your own decisions. there may be no place to turn around or you may not be able to back out of a section. once your into it.
now that ive said u cant back out, let me explain. sometimes for your own safety or the safety of others backing out may not be an option. im not goin to force anybody into anything, but just remember once your in a section you may in till the end. pin stripes and all

Hopefully that doesn't scare away too many newcomers. I was a little sad when I first got the long pinstripes on the powerline trails a few months back, but they've grown on me, and I'm looking forward to collecting a few more trail-merit-badges. Actually, I looked under my jeep the other day and was surprised how many scrapes there are on pretty much everything under there, skid plates, frame rails, muffler is a real funny shape now... Paint will never be perfect - the second it comes off the dealers lot it's got some kind of magnet attracting doors in parking lots, assorted dings and scrapes, etc. I'd rather the visible scrapes be from tree branches on a trail than a soccer mom banging into me with her door while she's shuffling her 8 kids out of their carseats.

I agree that we should try to move or cut some of the GIANT branches, the kinds that will bust lights and dent metal, but the bushes and things will be there no matter what. I've heard that throwing a fresh coat of wax on before going offroad helps prevent some of the light striping, but who knows.

didnt find anything really big enough to do major body damage, but i did just find a new stripe down the whole side of the truck. this is the first time its stopped raining long enough to get a good look at her since the trip.
i agree with you on the door dings, i still make the fiance park out in left field when we go out.

I live in boston, so if you're lucky enough to find a spot you can't be picky how close to the other cars you get. Luckily, most parking is parallel, so when they hit you, it's just plastic bumpers. And now that I'm lifted, they'll back right up under me :-P

I'm sure everyone will be braggin on here real soon about what they did and what they saw the 3 other trucks do. i told you guys you'd be amazed with what your trucks could do. Aarin and i cant wait to wheel with you guys again anytime. we're already tryin to work out some details for our next lost run.

ok since i was doin things the old fashioned way, you know takin pictures with a film camera its gonna take me a couple of days. digital is nice but im stickin with film. we'll run the rolls down to wal-mart tonite get them done. ill edit out the junk and send all of you a copy of the pix on a cd rom. i blew through about 10-12 rolls of film, about 240-300 shots, so should be some nice stuff.
