Amsoil EA034 filter and Amsoil 5W30 Syn. here on both of my KJ's. Good for up to 25,000 miles between oil changes. It is never too late to switch to a good filter and good synthetic oil. I have over 180,000 miles on my XJ and she purrs like a kitten since switching to Amsoil 10W-30 and EA042 filter.

If you are going to switch to synthetic, you should run an engine flush through the engine just before the change.

Amsoil makes a great engine flush that you put in and run the vehicle for 20 minutes (NO driving), then dump the oil and go with the synthetic. I am partial to Amsoil Ea filters or WIX, which also makes NAPA.

Mobil 1 is a fine synthetic, but if you want the best, follow the crowd here and go with Amsoil. The Series 3000 HDD 5w30 that Amsoil offers is just about the best on the market. There are other flavors of 5w30 in the Amsoil line that work well and will save a few bucks.

Good maintenance and a good synthetic will make for a long lasting friendship with your ride.

Do you all really leave that stuff in the jeep for 25k miles? Thats crazy.

I use Mobil 1 SYN and a Pure-One Purolater filter. I wouldnt pay that much for the amsoil stuff in the engine but I may use it in the tranny since these things suck for overheating and everything.

Last oil change I used valvoline synthetic blend (durablend) with a fram filter. I am hearing more bad things than good about fram, so I am thinking of using the purolater one next time (hearing good stuff about them). As far as oil, I wouldnt worry about using synthetics that late. I change my oil to synthetic at 65k (when i bought the jeep).

Not crazy at all if it tests good right? Truth is I go by the severe service interval and change at 15k. I wouldn't worry about running it longer though as it has been tested over and over at 25k plus miles and been still had service life left in it. So what change interval do you go by on the Mobil 1 and what does an oil change cost You?

I have NAPA Gold on now (= Wix). I have used Mobil1, Motorcraft, and Baldwin. At almost 70k miles, '02 Sport.

Wix seems to be a good filter. This is a good place to read about oil filters.

http://minimopar.knizefamily.net/oilfilters.html

I change my oil every 3k JJsKJ. I just believe if I ever have any trouble out of the engine, and ive changed it every 3k, then they souldnt have a problem doing any warranty work on it since I have the 7yr70k miles warranty. I pay $20 for 5 quarts of oil and $6 for a filter. I usually go way over 3months between oil changes; sometimes I can go 6months before I hit 3k miles.

Hey! The Amsoil site told me 10W40 for the Libby. Why are you using 5W30?

Also, I plan to go about 10-12k per change (only 3K on the oil now). It'll work out to the same as 3k walmart specials

Cool thanks for the input!
I will be switching over to synthetic next oil change.
And I don't think I will be using Fram any more... after reading some stuff I am a little apprehensive.. no solid evidence not to use them.. but I think I would be a little less anxious if I switched.

I was just getting oil changes at the dealer before, but I am getting ready to switch over to Amsoil pretty soon.

Interesting, as the earlier model years suggest 0w-30 - 10w-30 weights. Regardless, They will all work fine and I have been known to up the weight in the hot Summer months just for S's&G's. You might notice a little better mileage w/ 5w-30 though.

Edit: FWIW, I emailed Amsoil tech about the lack of other weights and longer interval oils for the 06 application guide. I will report back what i find out.

Here is a great place to learn about oil and related products. You can search and see what other poeple are using in their 3.7 engines. You can see what the UOA (used oil analysis) are on different engines.

10W40 is one of the weights that the GAS can Liberty can use. Is it possible there was a mixup and they sold you oil for the Gas Liberty?
