Do endurance, capacity and tolerance (of the transmission more-so than the motor) play a role in the failures we are seeing with the TC's and Trasnmissions?

Those who drive CRD's more like cars (no or minimal off-roading or trailer/cargo towing, only hauling people, etc ... ) may be straining the transmission and TC less vs. regular heavy cargo hauling and off-roading.

I know, I know, it's a Jeep, you're supposed to be able to do that stuff with it - but it's a transmission and TC in the Jeep that comes out of Dodge Trucks. It was not originally designed for this Jeep's specific mechanical setup.

Poor TCM/ECM software and incorrect filters (TSBs) aside, is there a relationship between failures and survivors?

Two questions to post answers to are:

1. Those with failed transmissions - were the transmission TSBs performed on your transmission before it failed or not?
2. Is your CRD used as a people hauler ONLY or is it also used to haul cargo, trailers and off-road?

1. Yes - all that were applicable
2. People hauler, 60% beltway, 40% local roads.

1. No work done on the tranny at all. The Jeep started shuddering on the way back home from a trip. Took it to the dealer and they replaced the TCM and performed the TSB's.
2. Mostly a people hauler (75%), Off road and pull boat trailer (25%)

1. No. I took it in to have them done when the dealer replaced the TC.
2. My commuter vehicle and ski vehicle. It goes on dirt roads when we go camping.
