4 wheel drive vs 2 wheel drive front end question

I would like to remove my front differential to install a Detroit true-track and was wondering if I removed the front differential, drive shaft from transfer case to front differential, and both CVs, if I could still use the Libby as a daily driver while I worked on the differential? I know I would basically be driving a 2 wheel drive but would this cause me any problems?

That would be fine, just a lot of work for you though. I would love to do that mod, but don't have the time and won't pay for a professional to do it.

Nope, MIne is 2wd right now. I removed the front diff, axles, driveshaft and all brackets in preperation for my SFA later this year. I had the front end apart to swap the Frankenlift from my KJ to my wifes and figured since it wasn't going to be wheeled until after the SFA, Why not. Now I have those parts stored for spares for my wifes KJ.
I also did the same thing in the field when my front diff blew up. We just removed the axles and front DS and I drove it around until I could get it into the shop. BTW, I am getting better mileage for sure now that I am 2wd. More money for my SFA. :wink:

I am working on it going into the shop later this year. I am collecting parts and saving up money right now to make it happen. I already have my Xmas and B-day lists made and will be sending them out to everyone on the forum soon. :wink:
