Okay, first thing: Let's define what units we're talking about.
Temperature: Celsius or Fahrenheit?

Fuel: I don't know if Mongolia shows this kind of thing on fuel pumps, but knowing how much sulfur is in the fuel would be good to know. In the states, we have what's called ULSD (ultra-low-sulfur-diesel) which has 15 parts-per-million of sulfur. Many US CRD owners had issues with the EGRs dying before we switched to that type of fuel (in 2006, I think)

lpg....? leagues-per-gallon?

In general, and in colder weather especially, the CRDs have pretty poor economy until they're up to operating temperature, so if you are taking only short trips around town, that may be the cause. Your engine might not be getting warmed up. That would also explain why motorway driving doesn't show up as bad. The higher speeds tend to get your up to operating temperature faster.

"LPG" is most likely liters per 100 kilometers, the measurement abroad.

12 lpg converts to 19.6 mpg.

well i mean mpg not lpg sorry forgot how to say cause iam not realy good at writing english .
and ove here temp in winter -35c.
today i met a guy who drive 06 reg crd as well he had the same problem ..like euro we call kilometr not mile so mine is spending 22 litre diesel for 100 klm.so this too much for.
and not sure about diesel about the low sulfar have to check with someone over here.

Yikes! 22 litres per 100 km is only 10.7 mpg. Now I understand the concern.

How many miles are on it?

If your temperature gauge isn't getting to right under the 1/2 mark, I would recommended changing your thermostat. When I did, I picked back up probably 2-3mpg.

Shut off the       EGR. Mongolia is not LA California and the EGR that is used to reduce NOX is basically useless, you get more NOX from the farms than your CRD. -35c = -31f and at that temperature everything takes more to move and turn, winter fuel economy sucks to put it mildly. Block of your radiator and keep your engine warm at that cold temp. Check your tire pressure, I keep mine at 45PSI (3.1 BARS) with my truck tires , that will reduce the rolling resistance. Our Canadian members may have a few more tips to pass on.
Best I get in the winter, highway only, is 26mpg, around town, not as good.

Your engine was never available in the US so most here won't know anything about it either.
But there's a Yahoo VM diesel group that has mostly Europian members with your version engine that would be of more help.
The web address for the group is.

Don't forget EuroLost
Tony and Uffe had suggestions

including this on the EGR

What you should need:

- New thermostat
- Grill cover
- Full Synth lube everywhere (engine-transfer case-differentials)
- Well-inflated tires
- Minimize cold air intake

I have yet to try the no-cold air in intake on the Libby. My previous vehicle (Tracker) got improved milleage in winter by cutting out the cold air and have it breath warmer air through the engine compartment. If this did the thing for a gasser, I guess it will give similar results for the diesel as well. The change in air molecule density affects the consumption to a certain point...

hope this helps!

BTW, maybe a good supply of fuel filters? Looks like you have to deal with nasty fuel up there!

I could be wrong, but I am suspicious of the whole "I'm from Mongolia" business

He's asking for information - not to cash a check.

I mean we've even answered questions from Aggies, how much worse could it get?

they're weird too - but we normally just ignore them and they go away - but Aggies never get the hint.

Hey juge
for cold weather - make sure the Thermostat is working and some kind of grill block
like Darby's plastic
http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?p=536454#p536454
or the FIA blanket
http://www.gofia.com/index.cfm?pageID=14&productSeries=2&acc=1&model=181&year=2005&step=3

also GDE mentioned taking the end of the air scoop off so that the engine is pulling air from inside the engine compartment - it needs warm air .
