Hey I've looked and can't find the info I'm needing. I am getting ready to replace my pass. side strut and I can't find the neat and time saving tip of the ratchet straps to line up the clevis.

Scroll down, you'll see it.

Once you see the pic, its about 99% self explanatory.

There is even an easier way....if you have a Vinnie. My neighbor Vinnie simply stood on the steering knuckle to get full droop and shoved the clevis back, then tapped it in with a hammer. Took him like 5 minuets....as opposed to like an hour with the darn straps!

The other alternative is the backwards-bolt trick, where you thread the bolt in one side and hammer it through (while using a prybar to line it up).

Thanks guys the first time I installed the Frankenlift it was a bear to get everything lined up. I had my 250lb brother-in-law standing on the caliper and it still wouldn't line up. I'm going to try the strap trick. I'll post some pics of the blown strut when I get it out.

Hey man if you want an extra set of hands let me know. I'm usually sleeping during the day but if you let me know ahead of time I can swing by your place, or you can drive down to here.

Firstly, looks from the pics like you attached yours to the skid plate which gave the strap equal pull on both sides....I don't have my skids yet so I had to find other places to attach the straps and it kept pulling it a bit sideways. Plus, the ratchet strap I was using was not quite heavy duty enough for that, kept binding up....but alls well that ends well....got'er done!!

Sorry guys I didn't mean caliper I meant rotor. I was typing right after I woke up and hadn't had my pepsi and smoke yet. Once I got there and motivated on it it took up less than 2 hours to have it swapped out. It took longer for the guy to get there to install the new strut into the assembly than it took to get it out and back in. Thanks again for the help guys. Here is a couple pics of the strut before I pulled it out.

Equal hook points with the ratchet strap are not important. Once the two points have been chosen and you have the strap tight you are only pulling it from the ratcheting side of it anyway. Thats why tapping the fork was necessary to keep it aligned.
Also I didnt have a heavy duty strap, Just a plain ol K-Mart $3 strap.

But you got it done anyway so hooray!

Yea it pretty much sucked I had to drive on it for two weeks. It drove me nuts. I forgot to take a few more of the strut out. BTW Lesson learned on that day.... Don't slide off a rather large rock and land with all the weight of the front end landing on that wheel and strut. Also learned, When the strut decided it had given it's all it makes a sound like a bb ricocheting off a old tire.
