There is a lot of good info here that I don't have any idea of what is being discussed.....I'm sure it's relavent but is it helping me get from A to B in a relatively straight line? I would like to get some more pep, minimize the EGR operation (for off-road purposes), reduce trubo lag, and perhaps improve 85 mph HWY MPG, and not have the dealer go bonkers if he looks at the ECU.
So far I understand the following:
1) I can have my ECU reprogrammed to my needs.
2) The reprograming is probably invisible to the Star Scan unless the tech is looking for specific operation of key components. If he detects something odd......I put on a dazed look and act like a government official......DENY, DENY, DENY.
3) If a reflash is needed, all the good stuff is gone, but Inmotion will reload the aforementioned good stuff as part of the deal.
4) I can buy a CRD ECU from:
http://www.ecudirect.com/finditfast/def ... &type1=rnr
have inmotion program it for me and swich back and forth as needed.
Now I'm going to do some guessing.
1) If I have an Inmotion programed ECU and the dealer does a reflash, it may or may not change the "custom" features depending on what the reflash was supposed to accomplish. I'm guessing that the whole program isn't reloaded, only the strings which DCX deemed necessary....could be way off base here.
2) If I need to go back and have it re-reprogramed after a flash.... the new flash is still in residence???
Am I anywhere close in my understanding?
I would kind of like to move forward with this but I am still under warrenty and there are no Indies with CRD experience anywhere around so I am stuck with the dealer. Somehow I need to accomadate three hands on the keyboard with 2 sheets of music.
