One thing I've noticed on this thread - everyone that has talked to a dealer or service advisor has related a DIFFERENT version of what this recall is supposed to entail.

I've lost track of how many different variations there are by now.
About the only thing I know with any kind of certainty from dealing with this beast over the last year or so - the dealers and service personnel, at least in this area of the country, are the LAST to know just what is going on with a TSB or recall.
One gent at work related that the service advisor at his dealership told him that if during the recall, they inspected the original TC and it looked good to them, they would simply reinstall the original TC and just reprogram the vehicle!

Sounds as if some of the less-than-honest dealerships are already figuring out ways to cut corners and come out ahead on this. If, as was said, it takes far more time than DC is allowing/paying the dealerships to do this, I'll bet dollars to doughnuts that more than one dealership is going to get "creative" when it comes to performing this recall.
Somehow, I just don't feel this recall is going to be the end of the tranny saga.
And for that matter - I don't have a warm fuzzy about some of the service techs I've seen, regardless of honesty, disassembling this electronic gizmo of a tranny and getting it back together properly. I'd much rather they simply take it out whole, send it back to DC to be refurbished, and plug in a new complete unit, rather than having to cross my fingers and hope some 90 day wonder in the back room was paying attention when they were teaching him how to work on trannys. That's one other reason I'm not inclined to rush in for this recall.
