I love my CRD. Bought it with the intention to keep it forever & still intend to. It's a fantastic compromise vehicle, having such a range of normally exclusive capabilities---tow capacity, off road ability, acceleration, maneuverability, mileage, emissions, durability, longevity, alternative fuel compatibility, mountain road handling ability, maintainability... Nothing compares to it, and I doubt anything will in the near future. It's our go anywhere, tow anything (to a point

) utility vehicle, from loads of gravel to snow-covered roads to horse hauling. It does it all well. And yet, I can zip through the narrowest, winding mountain roads, as well as parking lots, with grace and little effort while also getting better mileage than most vehicles on the road today. I only wish it had a slightly longer wheelbase, a more rugged (spray-down) interior, removable top, and a PTO. But, what the hay, it's close enough. However, my like of it and long-term aspirations really put me between a rock & a hard place in regard to the tranny problem, and less so to the EGR problem. I've got to find a permanent solution one way or another, because there's no way I can afford the vehicle in the long-term otherwise, but it's looking doubtful we'll be seeing that from DC and anything less is of no value to me. I'll certainly be keeping this vehicle, with aftermarket TC or manual tranny or whatever else, but if it turns out to be on my dime, then I will personally boycott DC for the rest of my life (to a point...). While I am more than satisfied with the vehicle for its capabilties & general design, I am not satisfied w/DC's engineering quality & customer service.
