Unfortunately, my CRD is still experiencing the same old song and dance. If I had to do over, I'd personally never done the F37. The shuddering has ocurred around 4 times in about a week and a half since the F37. The shift points have changed so much, and now the transmission "hunts" way more than it should....never a problem before. I've talked with both the sales manager and service manager, and they are in agreement it's time to throw in the hat. The CRD's transmission has been out three times for torque convertors, two or three re-flashes, and one EGR valve (EGR has never posed any extra problems....fixed right the first time).
I've been very pleased with the level of service and the help with a loaner vehicle during these times from Cornett Chrysler in Irvine, KY. Jeremy (the sales manager) and Robbie (service manager) have went well beyond the call of duty to keep us happy. I've explained to them that the situation would be different in that if I brought it in for a problem (something completely different) and they weren't able to fix it as opposed to DC sending TSB's / recalls / etc. instructing the dealer what to do. Hell.....it's now obvious (in my eyes) that DC doesn't have a fix yet, either. I'm guessing DC is.........just guessing.
Jeremy will be contacting the DC District Rep next week to get the process started. Basically, all the dealership will have to do is open a case and give them repair order / warranty info. I asked what involvement would be required of me, and he said typically none. Cornett rarely deals with more than one or two buy-backs a year.
I was told they'd give me MSRP toward MSRP on the new vehicle I wanted........and that works out great for me as I bought my CRD at invoice. I asked if I could special order something and he said typically DC wanted it taken from dealer inventory (or dealer trade) ASAP (Jeremy, winking, said we could order what we wanted as another Jeep / Dodge vehicle would be in around 4 weeks and the buy-back process takes 30--40 days). There was a charge for mileage, but Jeremy wasn't sure what the rate per mile is. Once I called the 800 number for Jeep and asked lots of questions about the CRD prior to purchasing one. The rep on the phone had information on his screen listing lots of past DC vehicles I'd owned. I also asked Jeremy if that would have an impact.....I got the "yes" answer I was looking for. In a nutshell, nothing is really going thru Kentucky Lemon Law........it's straight thru DC.
My questions are for those that have either been involved in a buy-back and / or have a friend / family member involved with one :
Do you still get any applicable rebates on the replacement vehicle ?
Do you still get special financing rates from Chrysler Financial ?
What is the exact charge per mile on the disposed vehicle ?
I only owe around $9200 on the CRD.....and traded in a perfectly good 2002 Liberty Sport 4x4 that I had 100% equity in. I received a rebate on the CRD for financing with Chrysler Financial......and got 0.00% for 48 months.
Thanks for your help......man I wish DC would let Suncoast, ATS, DTT, or some other company crank out a real torque convertor & valve body that would scream. I'm getting teary-eyed thinking about saying "so long, CRD" and buying either another 3.7L KJ gas hog or a Dodge Nitro.
