I just called Rustys.
They say that the CRD is virtually the same weight and that the kit will work fine on the CRD.
And I did a search. AllPar is where this is from
CRD
Axle Ratio (lbs.) 3.73
GVWR (lbs.) 5600
GCWR (lbs.) 10,150
GAWR Front/Rear (lbs.) 2750/3150
Curb Weight, est.(a) (lbs.) 4296
Max. Tongue Weight(b) (lbs.) 750
Max. Trailer Weight(b) (lbs.) 5000
Max. Payload(c) (lbs.) 1150
Max. Cargo(d) (lbs.) 400
3.7 Gas

A similarly equiped CRD will weigh 200 lbs more than the 3,7liter and all the weight difference is in the engine compartment. The curb weight for the 3.7 is around 4085 lbs and the curb wieght of the CRD is 4296 lbs. Allpar has the wrong numbers posted for the 3.7, but the CRD seems to be accurate.
About two months ago I was in the process of developing a lift kit for the CRD and did a few quick calculations and came to the realization that a 500 lb spring rate in the front end would be most appropriate for lifting a CRD. Innitially the CRD comes with a 410 lbs spring rate while the 3.7 comes with a 300 lb spring rate if I remember correctly. Even if the Rusty's Lift comes with a 375-400 lb spring rate it will still not be enough to support a lifted CRD, esspecially if you put an aftermarket bumper on the front end. I quit pursuing my lift design because a few day after I remarked that I was pursuing to develop a lift with a 500 lb rate, Heather at ALLJ's informed us that the OME front coil springs that were being developed went from a 425 lb rate to a 500 lb rate. I would like to think that I had something to do with it but in all reality some engineer at OME made the same calculations I did and realized that even a 425 lb spring would not be adequate for the CRD. So instead of developing a lift, I am now in the process of waiting for the new 500 lb springs from OME to arrive at AllJ's.
If it were me, I would weight for the new CRD Frankenlift with the new OME struts and the new 500 lb OME front coil springs, but if you choose to go with rusty's let the rest of us know how it goes.
